The Power of Learning in the Presence of Others

February 1, 2016 | Dorothy E. Siminovitch

Satsang is a Sanskrit word that means “gathering together for the truth” or, more simply, “being with the truth.” Whenever something increases your experience of the Truth, it opens your Heart and quiets your mind. Conversely, whenever something, such as a thought, fear, or judgment, limits or narrows your experience of the Truth, the Heart contracts and the mind gets busier. We are all equally endowed with this capacity to discriminate the Truth.

You have always been in satsang, but, it is in the community of others that you will feel this. In the presence all of others who are also seeking to develop themselves, there is a large possibility to welcome ourselves with more of our truth. An evolutionary awareness suggests that we are “wired” to be in the company of others for safety, resource allocation and most importantly, for learning.

Whether we meet in Toronto or in Istanbul, I wish to offer a big welcome to all of you for the new possibilities to come. Perhaps you wish to explore you leadership, whether you are a seasoned leader wishing to leave a legacy or a new leader wishing to create more engagement. Maybe you are a coach wishing to enrich your process competencies with gestalt based training. Perhaps you are a graduate of other program(s) and you wish to increase your professional mastery. Perhaps you are looking for mentorship of supervision. I welcome you to consider our trainings and offers at the Gestalt Center for Coaching and I welcome your inquiries.

I wish to thank Jeremy Emch and Deb Halinski for their help in launching my new website with a blog capacity. And I wish to thank my amazing partners Dost and Gila, and our excellent faculty—Belkis, Elif, Yesim, and Zeynep—at the Gestalt Center for Coaching, which offers trainings in both Istanbul and Toronto. And, big gratitude to our dear students, colleagues and clients who always inspire us. When we first started our work, in 2003, we had no way of knowing that we would become such a vibrant center for coach training and leadership development.

And thank you Martha Lannoch, my editor who has been a trustworthy colleague through so many transitions-many thanks.

I offer my most recent podcast, done with Dr. Krister Lowe, as an overview of what we teach. Team Coaching Zone, Episode #038 with Dorothy Siminovitch, PhD, MCC – “A Tale of Many Cities: Gestalt-based Executive & Team Coaching and Awareness IQ”
